Brick Police Seize Drugs, Stun Gun; Three Residents Charged
Two month investigation led to arrest; 400 pain pills, assorted drugs and a stun gun seized
A two month-long investigation by the Brick Township Police Department's Drug Enforcement Unit culminated in the arrest of three township residents after a search warrant yielded quantities of several illicit drugs, including 400 prescription pain pills, police said.
Police searched the home at 735 Old Burnt Tavern Road Feb. 20, said Sgt. Henry J. Drew.
"The investigation focused on the distribution of prescription painkillers that was occurring in Brick Township," said Drew, in a statement.
The search yielded 400 "assorted pills" which included oxycodone, Soma, morphine, Methadone and suboxone, Drew said. In addition, a quantity of cocaine and marijuana were seized, along with $1,100 in cash, as well as a stun gun.
Sal Sanzo, 32, who lived in the house, was charged with five counts of drug possession, possession of oxycodone with the intent to distribute, possession of a stun gun, possession of a unlawful weapon, possession of a weapon for a unlawful purpose and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police charged another resident of the house, Carissa Elmiger, 27, with possession of oxycodone with the intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A third suspect, Daniel Mooney, 32, of Brick, turned himself in at Brick Police headquarters Feb. 22, Drew said. Mooney was charged with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three suspects were released on summonses pending their appearances in court, Drew said.

Wait? Let me get this straight. These scumbags had this amount of drugs and they received a summons? Is that an ROC? No Bail? Are you kidding me? Yeh way to go Brick. It's the JUDGE btw... Whoever that is. Your showing others there's little punishment.

@ jerzymom many people get little punishment when they rat out others. Even those charged with serious burglary offenses. Most people that burglarize do so in order to pay for their drug habbit. SAD BUT TRUE. Do you know anything about that? You seem to have commented on a previous post involving a burglary. That incident also involved a serious drug addict that decided to steal from the elderly in Holiday City to support his addiction. I read the posts from his wife and daughter. You claim to know him very well, yet you didn't know he was married. Hmmmmmm.

If you know them, call them out in public, If we had stocks in front of the police station and were allowed to throw rotten tomatoes, feces etc...at them and the parents there'd be alot less of this...and fun!

just like to share that the cost of housing an inmate for a year on average is $30,000 tax dollars we spend on average $12,000 per public school student... those are some staggering numbers.

Brick Resident, are you sure that man seeming to deal and setting people up isn't an undercover police officer? They have to look real in order to be taken seriously by the drug dealers. Just a suggestion.

BrickResident, somneone else said he may be an informant, then they would allow him to keep going in order to catch the others. I don't understand their thinking, it's like setting them up, but I guess they do it. Those comments disappeared, maybe mine will too! lol

I honestly don't know who this person is, you may have more information. The fact that the person is involved, but not arrested means they are working with/for the police in some manner. They must know who this person is if they are on top of things all around him/her, yet they are never arrested.

The reality is WE need to band together as a community and let drug sellers and buyers know " not in our neighborhood or town". They need to go one town over and keep the business there Not Here!!

This war on drugs is a joke like the gun talks. No matter how much money is put into The war on drugs, its never going to end. Just bc they got 4 people off the street doesnt mean 4 new people picked up where they left off. Sure as hell dont need hard drugs on the street thats for sure, but i dont ever see it ending. We could spend money else where, let drug users get help from family and such. We spend enough money with people in jail for such crimes. When we got people killing that get less time.

Now let's put on our logical hats here folks. We as citizens can run up and down our streets trying to stop this in our neighborhoods, but look at the article, they were released with a summons? So a jay walking ticket is the same as selling 400 RX pills to kids? The change has to come from the top!! Informants need to follow the same rules as we do!
