Brick Police Arrest Three With 250 Bags of Heroin
Bust came after two-month long investigation, cops say
Following a two-month long investigation into heroin distribution, members of the Brick Police Drug Enforcement Unit arrested three people on Thursday and recovered 250 bags of heroin.
The arrest came after officers stopped a suspect vehicle at 7:56 p.m. on Route 88 near Younger Street, Brick Police Capt. John Rein said. The vehicle was being driven by Russell Bailey Jr., 49, of Buckner Street, Point Pleasant, and occupied by Stan Kilmartin, 37, of President Avenue, Lavallette, and Helena Zalom, 34, also of President Avenue, Lavallette.
Both Kilmartin and Zalom had outstanding warrants for their arrest, Rein said. Officers recovered 250 bags of heroin, drug paraphernalia and $2,020 in cash during their investigation.
All three occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest and transported to Brick Police Headquarters, Rein said.
Kilmartin is facing charges of manufacturing, dispensing or distributing heroin; possession of heroin; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brick Municipal Court Judge Robert LePore set bail at $75,000 cash. Kilmartin was being lodged in the Ocean County Jail, in lieu of bail.
Zalom was charged with possession of heroin, suboxone pills and methadone pills, as well as drug paraphernalia. She was was also remanded to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail from outstanding warrants. Jail records show she is facing an additional charge of theft by unlawful taking from another jurisdiction.
Bailey, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and released on a summons.
