I for one can not believe that PAL asked them to leave. Glad it has been worked out. These people are doing an amazing job. There are so many families displaced at this time and many of these people are very appreciative for the opportunity for a hot meal. Keep up the good work.

Most people work until 5pm. How does this help them? I guess if I am displaced, or have no usable kitchen, I should just arrange to leave work at 3:30 everyday to pick up dinner before the 5pm shutdown? PAL you did not save face.

So where is the permanent housing is the question you should be asking and for how long will they have to do this.

Where is the cruise ship that police chief in New Orleans got when he asked for it. Where are the FEMA trailers, where is the Hollywood star accusing the white house of racisit thoughts on national TV, come to think about it, where is our telethon.

What about the other PAl programs, do they now fade away to become a shelter, are these all Brick people they are helping, who pays the PAL staff and PAL exspenses to run the building like this.

Lets ask some questions before we all just "feel good" about things we are doing.

There have been some conflicting statements about the PAL facility, namely who owns the land, the building, and who pays the utilities and upkeep.
I would like Daniel to get the facts and publish a small article on this. His reporting is nonpartisan and factual as far as I can tell, so I would rely on his reportage as honest and impartial.

Someone from PAL called for a donation last Friday. After this story broke I was so mad at them I nearly broke the sound barrier when I slammed the phone down!

I want to know who over there actually thought that would be a good idea to ask this group to leave. Stupid, stupid people for not seeing the public's reaction on this one.

Isn't the Mayors father n law and other relatives on the PAL exec board? Why was this ever even discussed to kick them out... Shameful

The Brick PAL is still bitter that they got kicked out of brick schools running the after care program I think.

Iam sure this was not a heartfelt decision that they WANTED to continue to have there doors opened. what happened was they saw & heard that they would no longer have the towns support if they kicked them out... sorry you lost my funding many years ago, it just made it easier for other people to now that saw your true colors..

Issues forgotten. Brick relief is doing a great job, But is it legal? what if something goes wrong, whose responsible? who checks the food for safety?
who are the people working there, did anyone check them out?
who are the people getting the help, are they really in need?
All the food is it cooked and stored correctly?
where are all the funds going?
who is doing the accounting?
who will be held responsible for a problem, does the Brick relief people are they thinking about that, could we sue them if someone gets hurt or sick?
What happens if someone gets hurt? do they have insurance?
Again, people keep attacking the Brick PAL thats been around over 35 years, doing great things for over 35 years, theres so much emotion here that people forgot the basics.
These Brick relief people, now who are they too?, what are their names?, what are their references, its great to help put but when I was there I noticed funds being collected for the relief, I noticed a mess all over the place, so who does the accounting to make sure the funds go where they are supposed to go,

QUESTIONS that have to been answered... Its been a month, we have state agencies that handle these matters and are accountable, Brick Relief is well intentioned people helping out, but serious propblems could crop up that no one is thinking about, and Attacking the PAL is wrong,
the whole idea of a recovery is to get back to normal as soon as possible.

It depended on where you were assigned. Most troops ate standard American meals. Meat, potatoes, and vegetables with desert, milk or coffee. In the field troops often had to eat C-rations, canned food like pork and beans. Hot food was often brought into secure LZs by helicopter. Local food was not much utilized by American troops. There was no particular food associated with Vietnam or being in Vietnam. Thanks.

I drove past the PAL yesterday and it looked like it was closed. I check the Operation Brick Food Relief Facebook page today and apparently they were kicked out after all because they are moving. So much for compassion PAL.

Let's put the food mission aside. Why did this group "take over" the meals on wheels for the elderly? That situation has nothing to do with hurricane sandy. Those elderly were in the program before. I have a huge problem that this group is solicitating on outside websites for volunteers to "deliver meals to home bound elderly". Have your own car and over 18. The elderly on these groups assume they are being provided for by a program thru brick seniors. I thinks it's horrible to call out to anyone on the Internet to go to these people who are thinking the people that knock on their door are safe. To assume that anyone answering a call for volunteers are all good people is naive. After every tragedy there are those taking advantage. It's sad but it's the truth so lets not have our seniors at risk.

I work at PAL for the summer camp program. PAL is basically in bankrupsy. Them being there Ltered money being made for the workers. Also, the volunteers said that the program would only be for two weeks. So not only did they lie, they also were letting homeless people stay there. And i heard a rumor of a pedophile being there getting arrested. The bottom line is that there was more people volunteering than people being served. They also had not permits.

People alsontook advantage of the free meals.

People from northern jersey in areas that were not at all impacted by sandy came to this area to take advantage of the food as well as the area donation centers. The last day they left, the township, mayor, and pal agreed they were no longer needed as 5 people showed up with only two being from brick. Simeone went from my hometown, and ill tell you, our area was not affected and had all power. I don't think anyone here intention was for Brick to open up a true soup kitchen and draw transient people to the area, but that was exactly what was being done. They said they would leave in two weeks then threatened to and did take the story to the press in order to force officials to allow them to stay. They were looking everywhere to try and get people to come, no matter the need. In the end, the volunteers were the ones that needed this, not brick residents.
