Brick's municipal complex is closed Monday due to issues with the building's air conditioning system, officials said.
At 8:30 a.m. Monday, the temperature inside the complex was 88 degrees, said Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis.
The mayor said employees, except for essential personnel, were sent home due to regulations from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration that dictate employees in an office setting be sent home after an interior temperature reaches 85 degrees.
"We're functioning, we're doing everything we need to do, but non-essential employees were sent home," Acropolis said.
Crews are working to get four of six air conditioning units back online, the mayor said.

So basically they didn't send people home out of concern for their well being, but because they had to under federal law.

He must be referring to Juan and many of the other overpaid "administrators" and, of course, himself.

Toms River and several other towns are late sending them out as well. It might have to do with the additional education funding from trenton, so the tax rate would have to be re-calculated.

With the offices being closed today they should be all attending seminars on customer service.
OR
Doing something productive during this time out of office, The highly paid administration should tour/drive around town in nice air-conditioned vehicles. Maybe rent a luxury bus. Make note of all the code violations... Don't forget to check out your own township neglected property at Dock Road Beach.

Let's give DPW credit. I saw them in the hardest hit parts of town on Saturday and Sunday and even though TH was closed they were working. Again this was a freak of nature storm.

Non-essential employees = friends and family club, how about when my kids are taking final exams at the dilapidated Brick High School and it's 90 degrees in the classrooms??? That's OK???? This town is sinking like a rock, as soon as Mike Rittacco and Francis Gartland start giving names to the FEDS to lighten their sentences maybe just maybe we can get some fair representation for the taxpayers. The pigs continue to feed from the trough.

@forthekids I'm sure they were on a break when you saw them. As far as being hot in school I am sure if it's that hott the teachers would all cry and complain.

They are waiting for the tax rate to be certified by the Ocean County Board of Taxation. The bills will be sent out after that with an extended grace period for payments.

I guess that means that the county is in shock as well over the rate after the April increase. They can't believe it themselves.
