Brick Couple Charged In Abuse Of Dog

Sawmill Road couple 'made up the whole story' of finding the animal in Wall

They said they found a dog in a garbage bag on the side of a Wall Township road Thursday.

But a Brick Township couple has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after it was found that the pair never found the dog at all. It was their own animal.

Keith Morgan and his wife Shauna were arrested today at the couple’s Sawmill Road home by officers from the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said Victor “Buddy” Amato, chief SPCA law enforcment officer for Monmouth County.

“They made up the whole story,’’ Amato said.

The couple is also charged with filing a false police report, Amato said.

The dog, a Cocker Spaniel known as “Morgan,’’ was brought to the Associate Human Society’s office on Shafto Road in Tinton Falls Thursday covered in feces and urine, humane society officials said.

AHS officials have said the dog suffered severe neglect and is on a feeding tube.

Previously Reported:

A motorist driving on Belmar Boulevard on Thursday noticed a movement in a garbage bag on the side of the road, officials said.

It was a live dog, covered in feces and ill, left to die an inhumane death.

The Cocker Spaniel was taken to the Associated Humane Society in nearby Tinton Falls, where the aging dog has been named "Morgan,'' Humane Society staff said.

"We at AHS are offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for treating Morgan in this unthinkable way," according to a release from the AHA. "We will keep the public updated on Morgan's progress as he begins the healing process."

For more information on Morgan, e-mail tintonfallsahs@aol.com or call the AHS at 732-922-0100. The Society is located at 2960 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls 07753. The Society is open 7 days a week for adoptions from noon until 4 p.m.

So, in reality they didn't find him on the road....they simply brought their own dog to the shelter, which shows that they didn't want to just leave him to die. BUT, WHY DIDN'T THEY BRING HIM THERE FROM THE START!

How anyone could do that to an animal is beyond me. It is heartbreaking and disgusting. I am sick to my stomach. I hope that dog makes a full recovery and can find an owner that will appreciate him. As for the people that did this, I hope for a very harsh punishment.

It cost us a lot of money, but he was the love of our lives and we don't regret one dime of it. We would give anything to have him back with us again. And to think that these scumbags just threw that poor helpless animal away. They're not fit to share this earth with me. But you know what folks? It will come back to get them. Actually Bear I agree with your tongue in cheek comment. Please forgive me for paraphrasing but what I think you meant was, we let animal abusers off the hook waay too easily as a society. People that abuse & torture animals in either neglect or because they "enjoy" it are one in the same. After never spending one minute in jail for his horrific treatment of the animals, Vick got a standing ovation in his FIRST PRESEASON appearance in 2009, 3 weeks after being released from prison for running an organized gambling ring (he never did ONE DAY for abuse, it was “let go”). The people in that stadium in Philadelphia didn't know how he would handle himself moving forward & they stood & cheered him! What they were saying is “we support you as long as you can win games for our team.” Deplorable, he should have been boo-ed off the field. But to Bears point, he was welcomed with open arms instead of making the statement we are against animal abuse. Again tongue in cheek Bear with the statement you made but your point is well taken!

toby, you implied you like abortions. And your probably too young but I was considered a greaser way back in the '50's. The "jocks" had more fun in the showers with each other after Gym class, I made sure to keep a good grip on my own soap.

Bear & oldkodger- Trying to reason with a Eagles fan & a Vick defender is like trying to teach calculus to a chicken...although there is always a chance the chicken will "get it".

I didn't imply anything...you assumed that's what i meant...In no way was that my personal opinion, I was merely painting a conservative picture for Bear...please don't use this platform to let us all know you're a hundred years old and like to reminisce about hitting jukeboxes to impress the "dames" back in your greaser days...the point that is lost in all this was that Bear used this serious scenario to jump-start his comedy career... I know your glaucoma soiled eyes cant focus too well, so maybe stay in your lane...the bingo game starts in 25 minutes so you better get down to the church cafeteria!

If you didn't imply anything what was the meaning of your quote "right-wing conservative stance is about in-step with "who ppl can marry" or "what they should do with their babies".
Maybe you will live as long as me and not be abused by people who make fun of the elderly like you do.
If you were around in the 60's you would have idolized Bill Ayers as you do criminal sports celebrities and spit on my uniform.
Liberals like you are so insecure they need celebrities to worship. The obama generation.

Toby you are way out of line, and I assure you that you'll choke on those words one day. Anonymous postings are great, aren't they? I'm sure you would never dare to look someone in the eyes and say such terrible things. Shame on you.

Also Toby, if you ACTUALLY read what I wrote (seems by 2 of your posts you pick out certain things, do not read everything) - here I'll post it again:

"Vick got a standing ovation in his FIRST PRESEASON appearance in 2009, 3 weeks after being released from prison for running an organized gambling ring (he never did ONE DAY for abuse, it was “let go”). The people in that stadium in Philadelphia didn't know how he would handle himself moving forward & they stood & cheered him! What they were saying is “we support you as long as you can win games for our team.” "

I said you were forgiving him early & were cheering him for what he might be able to do for your team, your words are rhetoric because if you read what I wrote, I said that before you did. Might be a better idea to read twice before responding with stuff that has already been said. In addition Ray Lewis didn't kill anyone & certainly didn't kill any kids! Where do you get the stuff you say from? Ridiculous!

@ Oldkodger.... We aren't all a part of the "Obama generation." Furthermore if Toby won't apologize for his deplorable conduct and lack of respect for his elders I will. Please sir, don't judge all of us by an obviously poor example of our generation. @Toby.... I have no words to describe the sadness I feel for you being such a cavalcade of negative stereotypes... I'm sure if your parents read this thread they would be thoroughly ashamed of the Internet tough guy sons showing today

Toby, at no point did I make an attack towards your mother.... If you read my post correctly (which seems to be an ongoing problem for you) you would have read that I merely stated your parents would not be proud of your behaviors. Seeing as how you read parents as "mother" I'm going to assume that all you had growing up was a mother. This lack of a strong male role model also explains a lot of your behaviors. Without a father to smack you in the mouth for disrespecting your elders you've learned some poor habits my friend. Not only are you disrespecting your elders, people's parents (whom you have never met in your life), but also proud soldiers who have fought for this country. Poor form my friend..... poor form

toby, I 'm not looking for sympathy, even though I'm a cripple I made it to 67, hope you do to. Life experience may make you wake up and smell the real world.
