Brick Council to Vote on $2M Storm Appropriation
Emergency appropriation up for vote Tuesday
Brick's township council will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday in a special meeting to tackle issues related to Hurricane Sandy.
An agenda for the meeting indicates the council will consider a $2 million emergency appropriation which will be funded through special emergency notes as authorized under state law.
According to the resolution the council will consider, the appropriation is necessary "to meet certain expenses incurred or to be incurred as a result of the extraordinary damage to the streets, roads and other public property caused by Hurricane Sandy."
The council will also consider a separate resolution to formally establish a trust fund for charitable contributions to help storm victims.
The meeting, which will held at the township municipal complex, will include a general public comment portion.

It'll cost a whole lot more than 2 million. What's the waste removal plan? Just look at what's been placed out along the curblines.
Also, where has the Mayor been? With all this turmoil, you would think he would be spening a lot more time at town hall coordinating efforts and keeping the public informed with daily briefings (like Mayor Bloomberg).
This is a perfect reason to stop "double dipping". We all know the Mayor has a more important job in Tomes River. Brick is just second fiddle to him. He should resign and let another representative step up and show true leadership. I am asking Mayor Acropilos to resign, step aside and get new leadership in place with the emphasis on leadership.

Mr. Sholty, Many people had damage and major loss, and the still stepped up. There were volunteer firefighters who continued to serve the community from the start of the storm. These individuals went days at a time working to protect others, including the Mayor. Some of them lost their homes, cars and suffered extensive damage and loss of power and still responded to protect and serve. Where was he?

I too wondered where our mayor was after the storm. To hear he had to be pulled out of a Toms River meeting is appalling! I agree mayor, it is time to either resign from your TR job and focus on Brick or resign from being mayor and let someone that actually wants the job and is here to show leadership in times we need it.

Every town should decide on the plans and appropriations for their people. I for one, think this is a good idea. As for the politics, that can be decided at the polls next year.

You in all fairness where is any of the council members...Gee let me see they all had damage from the storm...This isn't a political battle its help your friends,family get back on there feet...This going to take years to recover and both parties need to work together as one all bricktown families..God Bless us all...

I can't wait to see how high our taxes go up this year. How many homes and properties are affected by this storm and taken off the tax rolls. How many of the poor unfortunate victims of the storm will be unable to pay their property tax bills this year or next. The problems caused by this storm are just beginning. With cold weather coming, any homes not secured are going to be ruined.
This is not a good time for Brick Township. This is not a good time for the victims of the storm.

This hasn't been a good time since Alphonse(Bellu) and Gaston(Acropolis) started giving one another no show tax payer jobs. They cannot defend this criminal activity. NO SHOW JOBS.
