The Brick Township Council will reorganize Tuesday night with all of the same members as 2012.
As no members' terms expired at the end of 2012, there were no council elections held in November, meaning the same seven members of the governing body will return for another year.
Control of the council will remain in the hands of the Democrats, who have a 4-3 majority over Republicans.
The council will begin the meeting with an invocation, then elect a president and vice president for 2013.
In 2012, Councilman John Ducey served as president and Councilman Bob Moore served as vice president.
A member of the council will also be appointed to serve on the planning board for the year. In 2012, Councilwoman Susan Lydecker served in this role.
The first meeting of 2013 will include a number of required administrative votes related to the reorganization, and a limited number of regular business items, including two measure related to the cleanup of Superstorm Sandy.

Its a shame that there wasn't an election so we could have made some changes in the council..which are so needed. !!

Did the Mayor resign from the TRMUA like he said he would so he can run for reelection?

Why would he? He has a pretty good gig going on now. I am sure the powers that be will change the rules or the law, making it perfectly legal for him to keep all 3 jobs.

Will Moore accept the nomination as Council President even though he might be shy of gaining overtime on his regular job? How about the other two imposters, will they still keep the health benefits that they campaigned against? Tell us, Toth is still in their corner and he will continue grabbing all th at he can swipe from us. Abstention has gained popularity and others will soon join on the "stuff team."

@BW.... you really enjoy defending the democrats and denigrating the republicans. I on the other hand ridicule and scorn both of the coruupt parties.
Not all of the politicians are liars. the ones who speak the truth rarely get elected and the honest politicians are probably about 5% of the elected officials.
Of the 5% of honest elected officials in office, none of them are in the democratic party. ZERO, Zilch, None

Slippery maybe you should read my posts again, my friend. I defend no one, as both parties are not worth anything. I am simply proving to those who choose to bash one party, that the other is just as bad.
They are all liars no matter what party they choose to sleep with. I am in favor of changing our form of govt to non partisan and using the ward system. I am in favor of eliminating pay and benefits for council members, so I dont get where you get that I protect the D and bash the R. I am an equal opportunity basher when it comes to politicians in Brick Ocean County and the state.
Hope this has cleared things up for you.

Just my 2 cents worth on this subject.
For those who commented that this council is the same as the prior ones, my view is different. This council has not given out 50k or 80k raises to anyone, let alone political cronies, as the prior council did. Council Pres. Ducey has not mistreated members of the public the way former pres Deluca did. We did not have a tax increase last budget (although, admittedly, we did not have a tax cut, either). And Deluca & Acropolis lying about giving out the 50k raise to Bellu is, to me, far worse than the benefits taking issue being discussed.
I am sorry, everyone, but I can't get upset over a politician who takes benefits that they are entitled to even though they said they weren't going to. Especially when the benefits affect their families health and lives. Things change, financial situations change.
What makes me angry is when I see my tax money spent on giving raises that are larger than what most people make in a years salary given to politically connected people (Bellu & Pezzara) and executive level jobs given to someone politically connected who has no experience doing that job (Sangiovanni: Brick School Transportation Director).
You can disagree with me if you want, but I hope that people will at least think about what I said instead of just attacking.

Sam, You are correct. These new people, although leaving much to be desired, don't come close to being as bad as the jobs given to Matthews, Acropolis, Bellu Sangiovani, Brando, DeLuca, (the list goes on and on) with no qualifications.
