Arrest Made in Convenience Store Robbery

Brick woman, 42, charged in robbery

Police have arrested a township woman and charged her with the robbery of a convenience store last weekend.

Gia Palmieri, 42, is suspected of robbing the Quick Stop Convenience Store on Route 88, just north of Midstreams Road.

The robbery occurred Oct. 6 at about 4 p.m., said Brick Police Detective Jim Burgess.

A female walked in the store wearing a stocking that covered her face and demanded cash from the owner, he said. At the time she was holding what appeared to be a handgun.

Palmieri was arrested Thursday after an investigation, said Burgess. Police now suspect what appeared to be a handgun was actually an Airsoft gun.

Palmieri has been charged with robbery and unlawful possession of an immitation firearm. She was being lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, a check of jail records showed.

unlawful possession of an imitation firearm? What if she would have held her finger out in her coat...would that still be considered an imitation firearm? Really?

And I am not making light of this situation. Just a question. Glad the suspect has been caught. Get those folks off the streets! But, I fear that with the short money going around we are going to be seeing much more of this type of thing.

Sounds like they did the right thing and fired her, should she be around children and board of ed property and computers which she would be stealing. Perhaps she will steal from teachers purses because she is "in need"

Turn to your family, friends, government or church. Turning to a crime like this only makes the situation that much worse. I would guess that she will stay in jail since the bail is set at $100k. This could only destroy a family.

@jenna there is help out there for a white female with kids. The problem is the govt is extremely slow at processing and giving help.If her kids were hungry she could have gone to the many food pantries. There are churches out there that will help.

Google is a wonderful tool.

2C:39-1(v) "Imitation firearm" means an object or device reasonably capable of being mistaken for a firearm.

2C:39-4. Possession of weapons for unlawful purposes.
e. Imitation firearms. Any person who has in his possession an
imitation firearm under circumstances that would lead an observer to
reasonably believe that it is possessed for an unlawful purpose is guilty
of a crime of the fourth degree.

BUT you're giving your kids the wrong message by stealing. I hope whatever happens with in the criminal system, they provide resources to the mother,& support if she's being abused mentally or physically...

Sorry I have to speak up here...this lady has been coming into our neighborhood off of Jordan road buying prescription pills (oxy). How do I know, because we have seen her buy the pills from a scumbag that lives in the neighborhood. We have called the cops numerous times but by the time they arrive she has left. We have given the police the plate numbers of each person that comes into the area to buy. We as a community got together and confronted the drug dealer. He no longer sells in the neighborhood but he sells along Midstreams road. Can't miss him, tall guy, wears a hoody even if it is 90 degrees out and usually is on his cell phone. One afternoon this lady drives up, picks up the druggie drives a block drops him off, he walks away (that is how he always sells it). She then sat there so a few of us ran up to the car, she was counting her pills in her hand. As we started to yell at her, she sped off. So we followed her to her house, Coolidge and Taft. We did not confront her there though. So in my opinion she robbed the store to get money to buy her drugs. Yes it is unfortunately, because She has kids and the suffer because of her disease. Hopefully now this is a wake up call to get herself help and straight. Hopefully the cops found drugs in the house and hopefully she gives up her dealers name so he can go down too and get him out of our neighborhood.

I agree...it is a sad thing for the children. Caught in a horrible situation, and that is the only thing they have ever known.

Our communities need to make it an uncomfortable place for these people to live and deal. Not sure about confrontation, but starting with community meetings with law enforcement would be a good start to begin a process to get them out. Wherever there are drugs there is crime. It's always been that way and always will...get the small time dealers off our streets and the crime will diminish. The people need to take back their neighborhoods. Not sure waiting for the police to just come in and do it will work. Start a phone tree...when you see someone suspicious make the calls. Don't let them pass without notifying someone that they are there. Flood the police with phone calls. GET TOGETHER AND TALK ABOUT IT!

It's only a matter of time before the husband is in the County jail, anyone who knows these people are not surprised at all by this news, and she wasn't stealing to get food for her kids, she was stealing to feed her and her husbands drug habit.

Do society a favor and arm every convenience store in Brick twp to the teeth before inflation really kicks in. All these section 8 crack heads will be coming out of the wood work then. Sending them to Guantanomo is a lenient penalty as far as I am concerned.

The country is in bad bad shape yet all the people who condone her criminal act will vet democrat and not for a competent government.

What's next, people coming into your home and robing you, or stealing our property to "feed their kids" would you call the police if that happened or chalk it up to someone needing the money and let it go.

What about the store clerk who was terrified, or the lose of money the insurance company will not cover, why should people be allowed to steal from the rest of us.

It is what it is. People that know Gia know the truth. She, her husband and mother-in-law are all addicts. It is not fair that a convenience store has to be robbed to feed an addiction. There is no Government assistance needed here. THAT IS WHAT IS KILLING THIS COUNTRY!!!! Her family is fed up with the addiction. You can only put up with so much that is why the house is up for sale. Gia and her husband do not hold the mortgage, HER parents do. Gia has a big family and they are done with the addiction and constant lies. Gia you were once a young pretty girl with the world at your feet. God bless her two beautiful children. The pain they have had to endure is absolutely unreal.

Danelle, perhaps if you are truly one her "best friends", you could have helped her rather than leave her no choice but to hold up a convenience store. Whether it was to feed her family (which we know it is not true because her husband works with one of your family members), or to feed a drug addiction, which we we all know is true, it is not right. If she fell on rough times, where were her friends? A friend of mine who also knows Gia, watched the SWAT team go into the house, put her in the police car, while her teenage daughter stood outside. Thank God her son was on a class trip and did not witness it. By the way, we are all going through hard times right know. It's called get a job, get a second job, cut back, tell your kids "no", etc. Believe you me Danelle, I know Gia and her family longer than you. She had a great job at the Middle School and was a great para with the special needs kids. The BEST!!! She got addicted to oxy's. So, rather than telling everyone on the Patch to go to hell, why don't you start helping your "best friend" to mend? Help her kids get through this rough time. I know you are mad about the comments made here and you can tell me to go to hell, that's fine. I believe in my post I said "Gia you were once a young pretty girl with the world at your feet." She can have that again, especially with the help of her best friend. However, you cannot justify what Gia did was right.

I care too Danelle, that's why I set the story straight instead of letting people speculate what the true story really is. You are very defensive here. Actually, it is all of our faults. I bet everyone on this site knows someone who abuses or is addicted to painkillers. Unfortunately, we turn our heads because we have either tried to intervene, are too busy or don't want to believe it. It is sad that it has come to this. Someone earlier had posted about the guy with the hoodie and the cell phone who deals the oxys. I see him all the time up and down Midstreams Road, Route 88, Coolidge, standing outside 7-11, etc. I don't remember reading that Danelle Madigan is the reason for the downfall of Gia Palmieri. Again, your first comment was pretty harsh and immature at best. Danelle if a junkie robs your house blind I will pray to God that no one says to you "he/she is facing tough times so why don't you go to hell!" You worked hard your whole life for what you have just for it to be taken away by someone who has to support their addiction. That's not right.

Danelle, I hope you get treatment for your problem as well.

Please surrender all your worldly goods, savings, and anything of value to those who "are in need" not because of this terrible govermental regime, but because they are a drug addict.

Death penalty for all drug sellers and those involved in it's distribution. Then maybe we can all have some security.

I live in Midstreams and hope the cops catch this guy with the hoodie. I have a hard time understanding how anyone would WANT to take oxy and those types of pills. I was given an rx after surgery last year and those pills made me itch, confused, dizzy and just plain sick! I got rid of them and toughed it out with Advil. Im sure these pills have a proper place and time, but people gotta use common sense and see the side effects and what it does to them, and ultimately their loved ones.
