TEMPLE BETH OR FOOD COLLECTION BENEFITS BRICK TOWNSHIP FAMILIES

A contingent from Temple Beth Or, Brick Township's Conservative synagogue, delivered non-perishable canned food items to the First Baptist Church of Laurelton food pantry on Wednesday, October 26.

Hebrew School children and teachers, as well as religious leader Rabbi Robert Rubin and representatives from the temple's Sisterhood organization  made the delivery.

The food drive was part of a combined Jewish response to hunger in North America, which mobilized Jews to take part in the work of "tikun olan," or mending the world, by collecting food and funds for hungry people.

Joan Lake, food pantry coordinator for the church, said this project promoted "the importance in understanding diversity and to appreciate the generosity amongst the spiritual community of Brick."
