Matthew Hascha,of Troop 38 in Brick NJ, received his Eagle Scout Badge at his Court of Honor held on June 30, 2012. His Eagle Service Project involved refurbishing and upgrading the outdoor learning area at Lake Riviera Middle School, making it accessible for students to appreciate and learn environmental issues outside the regular classroom. Matthew's project is a continuation of the Eagle project completed in 2010 by his brother Alex, who created wood duck nesting boxes, a viewing blind and informational signs in the same location. Matthew is a junior at Brick Township High School where his interests include music and history. He is Asst. Drum Major in the Marching Band program as well as participates in Jazz Band, Concert Band, and the Honors Band programs. He also rings the bells and sings in the choir at the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Brick. Matt is an avid fisherman and has a deep respect for the environment. He has enjoyed his time as a Boy Scout and plans on continuing in a leadership capacity with the troop in the future. Friends and family congratulate Matthew on this very prestigious honor and wish him much success in the future.
